Accounting and Auditing
Audit? Review? Compilation?
Which is right for your company?
It's all a matter of degree - the most stringent being the audit.
Both compilations and reviews are unaudited financial statements, usually prepared for financial institutions and other creditors, but also used by company owners and managers. The compilation is the least rigorous of the three, and is based on information provided by management. The review is more analytical. While an accountant does not have to be independent of the client to issue a compilation, that's not the case for a review.
As with a review, an audit must also be done by a certified public accountant who is independent of the client, and who complies with AICPA's (American Institute of Certified Public Accountants) Code of Professional Conduct. Observation or confirmation of a client's assets are required in an audit, as are testing of selected transactions. Audits are required by certain governmental entities (like the GAO), as well as other regulatory bodies and banking institutions.
As a member of the Private Companies Practice Section of the Division of CPA Firms of AICPA, RKG is in strict adherence to its quality control standards, and is subject to peer review. Our auditing services also extend to not-for-profit organizations and ERISA.
